21 Days of Prayer and Fasting
Join us in prayer as we start the new church year!
Each August, we encourage 21 Days of Prayer to start the new school and church year. It is a time to intentionally seek God in prayer and believe for Him to move in powerful ways. This year, our 21 Days will start August 5.
During these 21 days, we will take time each day to pray and read the Word of God. We believe the Holy Scripture has the power to encourage, convict, and compel us to walk closely with Christ. Our desire is that over this 21 day period, you will develop a great love for reading the Bible daily and that your life can be impacted by the power of the Word. We are glad you are taking this journey with your church family, and we are praying that we each will see a move of God in our lives.
“And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.“ - Acts 4:31
In this passage of Scripture, the Jewish officials have threatened the disciples and told them not to preach the gospel. The disciples gathered together and began to pray - not for protection or safety, but for “boldness” so they could continue to spread the gospel. God answered their prayers and the Holy Spirit strengthened them.
What if we dedicated ourselves to praying for Boldness? What would be the effects if we committed ourselves to pray for the needs in our own life and those around us? The writer of the book of James tells us what the result will be when he says, “the fervent prayer of the righteous avails much.” Let’s commit ourselves over these 21 days to pray with faith and with fervor.
Fasting
We also encourage you to consider fasting during this time as well. The goal of fasting is to draw near to God. It hits the reset button of our soul and renews us from the inside out. Fasting enables us to celebrate the goodness and mercy of God. It prepares our hearts for all the good things God desires to bring into our lives.
We understand the idea of fasting can be intimidating. When deciding on a fast, we encourage you to seek God in prayer and follow what the Holy Spirit leads you to do. There are several different types of fasts that you can engage in. If you have questions, please ask and we can point you to fasting resources that may help you in deciding what is best for you.
Even if you choose not to fast, however, we hope that you will still join us in 21 days of prayer.
If you have specific things that you are praying about, we would be honored to pray with you. You can reach out to me personally or submit a prayer request using one of our connection cards.
I look forward to praying with you over these 21 Days!
